Budgewoi grew from a 1930s holiday-camping destination into a town gazetted in 1941, so its core is mid-century fibro and weatherboard beach shacks, infilled with brick-veneer homes and low-rise lakeside units through the 1970s to 2000s. Many of those weekender cottages off Scenic Drive and Budgewoi Road were wired for a single-fuse holiday-cabin load and left largely untouched for decades, so plenty still run rewireable boards with no safety switches on subfloor and outdoor circuits.
